Alaska is the 49th state in the USA. It is approximately tree times bigger than Texas, the largest state in the continental US. However, it does not have nearly as well developed roadways as Texas. The main highways traversing the state are single lane each way. From what I am told, the people tend to be friendly toward anyone. As well some of the cities cannot be reached by road. Cities such as Juneau and Kodiak require one to take a ferry to stay in state. On the other hand, most of the state is able to reach each other through flight. This is the result of planes being most used to reach the villages to deliver supplies.

Due to the sheer size of the state, and the relative isolation of each of the cities, the main cities have a different style of regional jurisdiction over their areas. The state is broken up into boroughs as opposed to counties. According to wikipedia, they are functionally similar to counties, but do not cover the entire state.
